Teneo has a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and energetic Associate Consultant looking to embark on a career in financial communications. An Associate Consultant provides the highest quality of research and insight to support the advisory offering to clients. They support companies in effective engagement with media, financial audiences and broader stakeholders to manage risk and build corporate reputation.

The successful candidate works within the financial services sector team, primarily with banks, asset managers, private equity and insurers. Responsibilities include drafting communications materials, dealing with media, media monitoring and highlighting opportunities or concerns. They deliver core support, research and insight for client teams while monitoring analyst coverage and share price performance.

In this team of experts, everyone is hands on and plays an integral role on each client. The team spans industry sectors, working with leadership like CEOs, Chairmen and Heads of Communications of FTSE 100 and global companies. Work covers equity story development, financial calendar communications, M&A transactions, crisis management and ESG issues.

Clients include diverse companies like Aberdeen, CVC, KPMG, Mondelez, Shell and Tesco. Take an integrated approach drawing from full breadth of communications, working alongside Teneo teams in Campaigning, Public Affairs, Strategy and Consulting. Requirements

  • Between six months and three years’ experience at Associate Consultant level
  • Experience in a similar environment such as a financial communications agency
  • Background in roles related to public relations or investor relations
  • Experience in capital markets or financial analysis
  • Intellectually curious with interest in financial services sector
  • Creative and collaborative approach
  • Eager to learn about supporting companies with media and stakeholder engagement
  • Enthusiastic and energetic

Responsibilities

  • Build working relationships with clients, the media and other advisors
  • Draft communications materials including press releases, Q&A and key messages to support results and corporate milestones
  • Deal with the media on behalf of clients and build contact networks
  • Proactively highlight opportunities and potential areas of concern for clients
  • Deliver core support, research and insight for the client team
  • Conduct media monitoring for clients and competitors using various tools to provide context and implications
  • Monitor sell-side analyst coverage, share price performance and valuation
  • Support new business efforts through spotting opportunities, research and pitch materials preparation
