About this role

Howden is a global insurance group with employee ownership at its heart, uniting 23,000 employees across 56 countries. We seek a proactive, commercial and resilient HR Specialist to support the Specialty Insurance business as right-hand to the Head of HR. This role involves hands-on support across business partnering, employee relations, engagement, and mobility.

Act as the first point of contact for HR-related queries, providing expert advice on policies and procedures. Support annual performance and compensation reviews while partnering with managers. Collaborate on initiatives like workforce planning and diversity and inclusion to align with commercial goals.

Build strong relationships with stakeholders and managers across all levels and multiple business units. Manage complex employee relations matters, performance and absence management, ensuring compliance with employment laws. Drive employee engagement through surveys, exit interviews, and continuous improvement efforts.

Lead HR due diligence and integration in mergers and acquisitions, including TUPE transitions. Partner on talent acquisition, internal mobility, and development programs with Learning Partners. Execute the commercially aligned Specialty people agenda in a collaborative international team.

Requirements

  • Solid experience within a fast-paced, high growth and commercial environment
  • Proactive, commercial and resilient approach to HR business partnering
  • Experience providing hands-on support in employee relations and engagement
  • Ability to manage complex ER cases with fair application of policies
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations with appetite for measured risk
  • Experience in change management including M&A and TUPE processes
  • Strong stakeholder management across commercial business units

Responsibilities

  • Act as trusted and pragmatic partner to stakeholders and advisor to managers on HR queries
  • Support annual performance and compensation review, partnering with managers
  • Manage employee relations matters, including performance and absence management
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and analyse exit interview data
  • Lead HR due diligence and integration activities in mergers and acquisitions
  • Manage end-to-end employee transition processes under TUPE regulations
  • Build training programs to address skill gaps with Learning Partner
  • Work with Talent Acquisition on external hiring and internal mobility
