About this role

As Marqeta’s People Business Partner - EU/UK, you support teams in the European region to build strong regional cultures, navigate day-to-day employee situations, and help build the overall Marqetan experience. You serve as the European People Business Partner for operations across the UK, Gibraltar, Malta, and Poland. You act as the primary People Business Partner for the GTM UK team and EU/UK region.

You work cross-functionally to support employees, leaders, and offices, ensuring compliance with local regulations and cultural nuances across multiple European markets. You collaborate closely with US-based People Business Partners aligned to global C-level leaders. This provides dedicated local support while aligning European teams with global strategy.

The role reports to the Head of Global People Business Partners and fosters seamless collaboration across Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Total Rewards, People Business Partners, and People Operations. You build strong relationships with country leadership and the global People team for alignment and knowledge sharing. This drives cohesive execution of regional people priorities.

You coach leaders to accelerate business performance, elevate manager effectiveness, and lead initiatives like performance management. As culture champion, you foster high-performance aligned with company values and local differences. Manage employee relations and compliance to support growth in a hybrid role near London.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive People Business Partner experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in European employment and cultural nuances
  • At least 2 years working as a People Business Partner at a global company
  • Experience supporting multi-country operations in UK, Gibraltar, Malta, and Poland
  • Ability to coach leaders and managers on employee relations and performance
  • Knowledge of local regulations across European markets
  • Cross-functional collaboration skills with global HR teams

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary People Business Partner for EU markets and GTM UK team across UK, Gibraltar, Malta, and Poland
  • Coach and consult leaders on people initiatives aligned with business priorities to accelerate performance
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration across Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Total Rewards, and People Operations
  • Coach managers on day-to-day employee situations, employee experience, and people initiatives driving growth
  • Lead regional people initiatives such as performance management with local expertise
  • Monitor compliance and risk management, ensuring practices align with local employment laws and partnering with Legal
  • Manage employee relations matters, performance issues, and investigations as primary point-of-contact
  • Champion culture, develop region-specific policies, and build stakeholder relationships
