About this role

M&G plc has a heritage dating back more than 175 years, combining asset management and insurance expertise. The Private Corporate Credit team manages €10 billion across liquid and illiquid strategies, including Broadly-Syndicated Loans, High Yield Bonds and Direct Lending. As the business grows, they seek an Associate Fund Manager with broad exposure across portfolio management, idea generation and client engagement.

The role involves supporting senior fund managers in constructing and managing private corporate credit portfolios, contributing to portfolio-positioning, risk assessment and relative value analysis. You will generate differentiated investment ideas, participate in fundamental credit analysis and monitor performance against risk frameworks. Communicate investment views to clients and build relationships with banks, sponsors and advisers.

Private Corporate Credit sits within Private & Structured Credit, part of M&G’s €100bn Private Markets platform with a long track record in European leveraged finance. The team manages co-mingled funds, SMAs and CLOs in a high-conviction, analytical environment valuing sound judgement and collaboration. Sustainability is fully embedded in the investment process.

Requirements

  • Meaningful experience in sub-investment-grade corporate credit, ideally including leveraged finance; exposure to restructurings is advantageous
  • Strong understanding of complex capital structures and portfolio construction
  • Well-developed market network across banks and private equity sponsors
  • Appreciation of clients’ objectives and expectations in a fund management context
  • Familiarity with ESG integration and sustainable investment frameworks
  • CFA or equivalent professional qualification (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Support senior fund managers in the construction and management of private corporate credit portfolios, with increasing responsibility for specific mandates
  • Contribute to portfolio-positioning, risk assessment and relative value analysis across liquid and less liquid strategies
  • Generate and develop differentiated investment and trading ideas
  • Participate in fundamental credit analysis and investment decision-making
  • Monitor performance, attribution and adherence to risk frameworks
  • Communicate investment views and activity to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Build and maintain relationships with banks, sponsors and advisers alongside the wider team
