We're seeking a Risk & Compliance Lawyer to join the NRFLLP Compliance Team based in London or Newcastle. We value innovative, commercial people who appreciate their work and diverse perspectives.
The role reports to a Risk & Compliance Counsel and supports client and matter inception alongside broader compliance work. The UK compliance function splits between Newcastle and London but operates closely as one team. It requires a can-do attitude, eagerness to broaden knowledge, and flexible creative thinking.
Risk & Compliance Lawyers provide evening escalation support on a rota basis and weekend emergency cover, without shift work. The team liaises internationally with compliance groups in Australia, Canada, USA, and South Africa. Collaboration underpins our global strategy and culture.
Assist with wider compliance projects, policy reviews, and producing monthly risk reports for senior management. Help train and mentor Compliance Officers and team members. Our environment fosters room to move and think beyond boundaries.
Requirements
- Relevant skills and experience in risk and compliance
- Innovative and commercial approach to work

- Knowledge of SRA Standards and Regulations
- Familiarity with Economic Sanctions laws and Market Abuse Regulation
- Ability to advise on conflicts of interest and confidentiality issues
- Experience reviewing client engagement terms and regulatory compliance
Responsibilities
- Advising partners, fee earners and the Compliance Team on potential conflicts of interests, confidentiality and disclosure issues
- Liaising with and assisting the Compliance Teams at Norton Rose Fulbright Member Firms in Australia, Canada, USA and South Africa on conflicts
- Assisting the Heads of Compliance and Risk & Compliance Counsels in managing conflict, business acceptance and regulatory issues
- Reviewing engagement and relationship letters, panel appointments and non-disclosure agreements produced by clients
- Helping partners and fee earners understand duties under the SRA Standards and Regulations, Economic Sanctions laws, Market Abuse Regulation
- Producing monthly risk reports for senior management
- Assisting with and delivering wider compliance projects, including review of NRFLLP policies and procedures
- Assisting the Risk & Compliance Managers in training, mentoring and developing Officers and Compliance team members
